Swing check valves are fitted with a disc that swings on a hinge or shaft. The valve flap swings from the seat to allow forward flow, and when flow stops, the flap swings back to the seat to stop reverse flow. Power plants. A variation on the standard swing check valve, the silent check valve - also known as a spring-loaded check valve - uses a spring to help the valve close with more control.
